INTERN DAYS : Stylist Assistant

working with one stylist as an assistant, running up and down Madison and Fifth Ave from Bergdorf to Bloomingdale's, pulling clothes, accessories, and shoes to make sure the client has a complete look. Was it fun? WAS IT EVERR! it gave me a glimpse of everything that i wanted to do for myself.

Yes, i interned but, i still had to work full time. Although, i would have loved to stop working to gain all of the experience wanted and needed. I missed a lot of opportunities because of my job. Which makes me think ... If it werent for my job, I'd have a career by now. Its all good. im still doing it. Dont sleep on that.

WORDS OF ADVICE : Gain all the experience you can, while you can.

Dear Readers,

I am writing to apologize for my absence and lack of providing the mirror impressing fashion that you expect from me. Please, let me explain. This summer has been very vital to the growth of my career. And thats no excuse, but rather the truth. I have been making contacts, doing photo shoots and fashion shows; as well and working full time while trying to have a social life. I mean, come on, it IS summer =] But, that doesnt make it right. When I dedicated myself into starting this blog, it should have been for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, from season to season, til death do us part. I LOVE YOU ALL FOR READING and i truly appreciate the support.

Where am i now? Still working HARD. Still trying to make contacts everyday, meet new people, network. As well, as styling. Yes, I have a job but, i want "STYLING" to be my CAREER. and thats a big step and a lot of work to get there. But, i am more than willing to do so.

Nordstrom Rack's grand opening was today and why not indulge a little bit. live your life. i found two pairs of sunglasses and a ring! all betsey, btch. i did see a really cute L.A.M.B bag but, for $267 at nordstrom rack, annnnd it's extremely bright and obnoxious... i'll think about it. hmph.

i spotted this on shopbop and i loved every taste.

the first look is so cute for just the casual day out. not doing too much but just incase you are spotted by the one person you dont want to see, you still look cute in anything and everything that you do. yes, thats exactly what i like to do. you never know who you might see, but if you do run into someone, see by chloe. ya dig? yea, youre feeling me, i kno. i can tell.

now you know project runway season finale is always taped at the bryant park (which has recently moved, how sad ) fashion show during new york fashion week. and altho, i have never been priviledged enough to go, im still a fan. i heard its the most popular fashion show during the week, bigger than Posen, McQueen, and Wang. aaaooow. thats crazy tho bc this is JUST a television show. reality television at that. and its bigger than these designers. Heidi must be doing something right. get it girl.

it was just another day for me; a lot of work and little play, very familiar these days. on my lunch break, kept it fatty and very recession-esque and went to bk, so i could have it my way. ( i really wanted sonic but, we're not going to go there... friggin northern states. smh!) being that it was only 5 minutes away from work and i refused to get out of the car. i ate my whopper (with cheese, pickles and 'catsup' only ; picky me) and cheesy tots in my car and bumped my homegirl, wendy. (wendy who? i mean c'mon look at the time. 3:46 pm, on FM 107.5... who else? wendy 'put that where?...back there' williams. ) it was only right. you know shes crazy but, i love her nonetheless. shes so real, minus the weave and lashes and breasts, and everything else she has done. no hate by any means, i love it all. shes a maniac and she knows and embraces it. cant deny the love of that! so mean while, i was inspired by the objects in the sky and the ones on my feet. i was definitely having a tomboy moment, rockin my chucks, oversized button front, and vest and scarf. wanted to be comfy. cas cute aka lazy. the pics are definitely disturbia from the greasy carbs. dont judge me, just love me... or leave me alone. HOV!

overall, bk, wendy, and i had a fantastic break. and actually, when i came back to work, i was in such a better mood. a little alone time with good friends (oxymoron, i know. i already made my disclaimer about no judging. just a little reiteration, never hateration...smh) can be exactly what i needed and i didnt even know it was missing. great! i love my life and the way i live it. the little things are what makes life so amazing.

I found these JEFFREY CAMPBELL peep toe half boots reduced from $175 to ... $30 !! how happy am i?! I think I have the perfect outfit to wear them with on Friday but, you have to wait for that. for now, I'm just testing out the comfort.

so lately, ive been feeling blah about my clothes. you know when you look in the your closet full of everything and you feel like you have nothing. ding!ding! that has definitely been me lately. i havent even been wanting to shop. i was hoping the groundhog predicting winter would be over tomorrow but then i looked outside, and it was snowing. so much for that.

and there it was ... BEHOLD, the stylish Erin Wasson, wearing TopShop black skinnys...
and they are... RIPPED! yess. INSPIRATION at its finest. not that i didnt want to buy them, but why buy them, when i know i could make them. and so i did....

i was pleasantly pleased with the final product but i was so unsure of how to wear it. so yea, not going to lie, tried to recreate my inspiration outfit. it took a while but i feel like i kind of got it. but that was my work look ( and yes, i did wear them to work, with tights under it and i received many compliments and wows. but good wows, not that, awkward-interesting, wow.)
stopped by alexander wang's showroom tonight for a preview of his pre-fall and fall line, and i decided to x the blazer, toss the booties, and trade them in for mixed necklaces and converses. all black ensemble, which i rarely do, kind of worked for me tonight bc the jeans were so outrageous. overall, kudos to me. lol.

and then i got crazy and had a mini photoshoot in my kitchen. always thinking of food. shoutout to the quizznos up the block from the showroom. you made me a bomb diggity, chicken carbonara! ha.

you know when you have those days that you just dont want to move and all you want to do is sit i your bed, with your pjs on, and watch horrible reality tv? and doesnt it suck when you have those days, and you HAVE to go somewhere? well that was definitely me yesterday. i was down in the dumps with no desire to get dressed, let alone be cute. but, i had to go to work, so i ROLLED out of bed at the speed of a snail, and THREW on whatever. i went to work and felt horrible, about myself and my appearance. i looked like a mess, and i just knew everyone was going to call me out on it. but surprise, surprise,... people, actually, thought i looked nice. i was NOT expecting that at all. for real, for real, no bs. thats what i mean about "dress to impress the mirror." i had no desire to be cute, i just thought i would put things on that somewhat matched and go. and come to find out, i was a hit at work. ha! who wouldve thought?

do you remember having a beeper? maybe you just werent cool enough but, i do! it was the alpha-numeric one in blue. damn, i was so poppin. my mom would page me to come home, and id run to the pay phone and tell her i needed another hour for whatever made up excuse i had at that time. if you think about it, that was like a first text message. i didnt even get a cell phone until freshman year in high school, i think. and that was major. i remember everyone had the motorola with the gel cover, that came in blue or white. yeaaa! but now cell phones are the norm. ive seen kids in elementary school with cell phones. they cant even stay up past the 10spot but, they can have a cell phone. smh.

thats why, when i saw Leapfrogs version of the Baby Blackberry, i was suprised but not shocked! BABIES ARE ON THE COME UP, sad to say.

thats going to be a babies first toy? sad thing is, cell phones werent toys and now they are. awww, come on. sometimes i get angry about how technology has changed things. its messing things up for the new generation. i know i had a GREAT childhood, riding bikes to the parks, playing with my friends, taking road trips with my friends and their families, house parties every other friday. it was fun, i wouldnt take it back for anything. but all of this new technology, all kids do is sit and ... do nothing. SAD!

i said it before, and im saying it again. i NEED to see NOTORIOUS. yea, i know, its already in theaters, so whats the hold up.... ummmm... yeaaaa.... no one wants to take me. I thought it wouldve been a fun date, too bad, im a loser and no one wants to take me out. GRRRR! haha. yea, whatever, ill be the loser in the movie theater by herself this sunday. yup, thats me. just me and my chicken strips and curly fries. yea, i dont play that popcorn mess, i can EAT. thats probably why no dude wants to take me to the movies, broke suckers. ha, jk... or am i?! so, yea, i DEFINITELY need to check Notorious out, sooner rather than later.
another must see, thats im freaking out about, especially since im totally obssessed with the soundtrack, is SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE! what in the heck is wrong with me? i know its ghetto, but my friend had the movie on bootleg while he was in the hospital but, we chose to watch Traitor instead. I put him on to that movie, LOVE IT! but, i knew i shouldve just watched Slumdog Millionaire and let him watch my DVD in his own free time. WHAT WAS I THINKING? everyone that has seen this movie, gives it great reviews. I have even heard its on the level of CITY OF GOD! OhMGee. that is MY MOVIE, have it on DVD and everything. i could literally watch it everyday, and have done so for months. Thats bc i got put on to that movie so late in the game. My first time seeing it was... 2 years ago? yea i know, dont judge me. I am a movie freak. i dont know how that one slipped by me. but, its okay people. im on it now!

okay, im going to stop playing and go on sunday and see everything i need to bc i can not wait. and while, im at it, i might as well, catch MILK, too. i was never really interested in this but, ive been hearing good things. and the worst that could happen is, i leave bc i PROBABLY wont pay for each one. ill strategically figure out the times, and just walk right into them. yea, i know its so bad, but come on, weve all done it. dont lie.
i dont mind taking to back to my childhood days, when sundays were poppin for the movies. dont you remember waking up everyday sunday and turning on the tv and watching movies after movies? oh come on. i remember watching crooklyn and corrina, corrina back to back one sunday. i was in heaven. whats crazy about this is, technically it all makes sense, but its just vertually and realistically impossible. but by looking at, you want it to be so badddd. i would love to be that triangle right in the middle, surrounding by all of the city, in its different elements, ready to offer me the world. oh man, did i just get all poetic justice on you, right after tupac realized he fell in love? maybe just a dab. fighting the feeling of visual pleasure, defined by great, stimulating photography isnt easy. what can i say? im weak.

there is something about the 90s, that i just cant get enough of. yea, i was born in the 80s, but i GREW up in the 90s, and everything about it makes my heart warm. the slightest thing could trigger a memory for me from the 90s, and ill bug out. so, when i was in miami, i went to this party called Purdy Lounge, and they had something called "Chocolate Sundays"... straight 90s music and whats crazier, is we were playing Connect Four at the spot. Everyone knows how Target does their "Go International" concept, where well known designers make an exclusive label for Target, available for a limited time only... right?! well, if not, hop on it. while i was on FabSugar doing what i do, i came across an article stating that Private Label 5 will be launching their line in February! CAN NOT WAIT! most of the stuff is really dime. Like, i can definitely see me rocking this stuff for the spring, but, some of the stuff is transitional too. Meaning, i can wear it now. Because sometimes i just can not resist wearing my new clothes. I mean, either its hanging in my closet staring at me for that perfect premiere, orrrrrrrrr im trying it on every other day. My inner 5 year old comes out at times, when it comes to clothes ;)

then : dress or belted tunic with jean cut offs.

THE LAST THREE PIECES, im not sure how i feel about them... for me. i think they are cute, but i just dont know if i would rock them. but, we have to wait til February bc they might look fab in person, and then ill have to get them all. you know how that goes.

now : over a long vneck tee, jeans and flat saddle boots.

another collabo gone so right!...so far. matthew williamson will so be shooting his campaign for his H&M line, launching in May of 2009. He is shooting the print ads in Mexico and the tv ads in Brazil. damn, can i come?! He wouldnt say if he was going to be in the ads but, all I need a preview of what the line is going to look like and im good. as ive been talking about, im going to florida in like 2 weeks. so, im trying find cute, weather appropriate outfits. it IS the perfect time to do so because a lot of the resort stuff is out already but, i dont have resort money right now. (no need to say that word again. ya know the one; starts with a 'reces', ends with 'sion')

so, im the budget friendly queen. i can always find cute stuff, for the price of damn near nothing. and this was no different. i went to bloomies, to see what the deal was over there with their sale racks (gag, just thinking about it). they always have some type of sale or promotion going on... ALWAYS! idk how they make money. but, anyways,

but, i did come across, a free people tunic/dress. at the least, i will wear it as a beach cover up... AT THE LEAST ;) i can definitely go from beach to the strip for drinks with this on. whatev, i might throw on a cardi with and rock my gladiators, like whatevvvva.

so, im going to miami in a couple of weeks (eeek; ive never been. hyped!) and of course, i want something really cute to wear but i dont want to spend big bucks. i always go to target for bathing suits, they always have cute, budget friendly, frills. aoww. so, of course, while i was searching their website, i had to check out the design for all stuff. you know, when mainstream designers, make a subline for of their designs for target. this go 'round... THAKOON!
i found these shorts, and fell in love. i can so see myself frolicking on the strip in this lil number, with either a bikini top, or a lil tank and sandals.
the colors are so pretty against the black right? yummers.
instead of buying online, i went to my local target after work and
made that purchase for only $24.99!
and of course, when i also found another future love. but im contemplating this one. its really cute, a little green, $34.99 windbreaker. tasty! but its not something i need, its just a want. so, i said lemme sleep on it, and if its meant to be, it will be. i love how i use life quotes for small time purchases. oooh, fashion. how i heart you!

i don't know what it is about them but, i've always loved the gap ads. they are always so intriguing to me. ha! sounds weird, i know. especially with all these high end designers and their couture ads in all of the Elle's and vogues. Gap, Inc always still does it for me. they are very unique. you can always tell a gap ad when you see it, even year after year, when they reinvent themselves. they make simple and clean seems so fulfilling ans extravagant. bizarre! ha. but see for yourself.

"Kehinde Wiley opened his third solo show at Deitch Projects in SoHo last night. The exhibition, DOWN, includes seven large-scale portraits done in Wiley’s signature style. Kehinde Wiley is known for creating his own version of contemporary portraiture that appropriates young African American men in the place of more well known portraits of old world power figures, religious icons etc.. For his newest solo exhibition he has chosen to depict seven young men from Brooklyn in poses inspired by the fallen warriors and saints that appeared in the old 18th and 19th century paintings of Holbein, Mantegna, Houdon, Maderno, Retout and Clesinger. The young men are shown in old traditional poses of religious figures or leaders in the moment of death or repose, but their expressions and dress are wholly their own. its prob the best and worst thing to do on my down time. i come up with possible outfits to wear. the pros about it is, i always have a spare outfit to wear, especially on the running-late-to-work-days. cons, i always seem to think i need something else, like this would be so much cuter, if only i had ... urgh! and i seem to think that a lot. whatevs.

while having one of those heart to hearts, with my JAW, about men and the lack their of in this world ( and no i am not man bashing by any means... the right one just has not seem to come along, thats all )... i made this outfit.

perfection for frolicking in soho on sunday afternoon, just after the leaves fell off the trees, and the chilled wind still gives off that smell of roasted nuts surrounded by smoke. Oh, how i HEART NY !
